Melita Morriss

Melita has always been fascinated by movement. She graduated with a BSc (Physiotherapy) in 2009 but after 3 years of practice in sports physio clinics, she began to feel disillusioned with standard physiotherapy practice. Melita felt that despite all her training, she still wasn’t able to understand and treat her patient’s injuries as well as she had hoped.
At this time, Melita was fortunate to come across ConnectTherapy™ - a whole-body movement based approach to physiotherapy developed by Dr LJ Lee in Vancouver, Canada. Melita recognised it had the potential to help her understand her patients injuries and to get them better, faster so she spent the next 5 years in Sydney, learning and transitioning her practice.

In 2017, having completed all the ConnectTherapy training that she could whilst in Australia, Melita moved to Vancouver to work in Dr Lee’s own clinic and continue her training. This also exposed her to a wide variety of patients from Olympic athletes to complex patients with chronic pain who flew from all around the world to seek treatment at the clinic.

Melita returned to Australia in 2019 as one of the most highly trained ConnectTherapy practicing physios in the country. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world. Many people believe that it is the hands-on treatment that is the most important part of physio treatment, but Melita knew from her ConnectTherapy training that it was in fact the accurate diagnosis of the root cause of the injury and teaching people to move with proper biomechanics which actually made the biggest difference to a patient’s recovery. She realised that it meant her style of treatment translated perfectly to telehealth and delved into the world of online treatment. Melita was still initially sceptical however but was blown away with the results with some patients improving more quickly via telehealth than in the clinic!

In early 2021, Melita launched her brand Move Mountains Physio. Her treatment is still based in ConnectTherapy but her learnings from treating via telehealth have refined her understanding of and commitment to restoring optimal biomechanics in all her patients as this gets them better and back to what they want to do fastest and keeps them injury-free.

Melita treats all kinds of patients and problems. She has experience working with a huge variety of elite and recreational athletes. She also treats a large number of patients suffering chronic conditions such as Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), Chronic Fatigue, and Fibromyalgia.
